All hail angular electronics over a funky bassline that couldn't sound more like The Police if it tried. Timing this to coincide with the real Police's reunion could be a terrible career move or could, alternately, mean that they'll become the most popular band of the moment. It's up to you, iTune download collective, to decide.
Circuits would be great supporting Sting and co on tour, that's for sure. The vocal delivery owes as much to the Tantric one as the bassline, so strongly in fact that it's actually a bit cheeky, but on the plus side you can listen to it conscience-free, safe in the knowledge that they aren't going to start whinging on about the rainforest at any second. One hopes.
Pistols at Dawn definitely harks back to early-'80s forays into African beats and reggae by ageing punks but that mainly serves to remind you how good such music could at times be and leaves you wanting more. Funky, ska-ish, bold and danceable, they definitely warrant further investigation.
