Keeping expectations low with an incredible combination of Most Boring Band Name Ever (named after the timepieces or the Coldplay song? Zzzzzzz), a song title that refers to ancient technology, and a seemingly irrelevant picture of a Russian doll on the sleeve, the sad truth is that things don't get that much more interesting when you put the CD in and press play.
Appealing to the same kind of people who buy Magic Numbers albums and can't understand why Hal aren't huge, Clocks aren't bad at what they do. This pleasant little old fashioned guitar pop tune is perfectly harmless and nice.
It's like The View's Face For The Radio might have sounded if they'd been brought up in a wealthy area of South England instead of scummy Dundee. Which will, depending on your viewpoint, either tell you that they're lovely boys who you'd sit next to Keane at your dream tea party, or that they're the most painfully dull band in the history of the world.
It's just a matter of taste.
