The Scientist proved too elegiac for American audiences, so they got Clocks while we lapped up The Scientist. Now we get Clocks too - and it's so tense it sounds like it has been wound up.
Chris Martin's piano again dominates with a catchy little phrase, the rest of the band filling in the surrounding sonic blanks with understated guitar, bursts of bass and an off-the-wall drum rhythm. And Martin's voice is as impassioned as we've come to expect.
"And nothing else compares," he cries, and as far as Coldplay go right now, it's difficult to argue.
