Colour Of Fire - A Pearl Necklace For Her Majesty (Riverman)
UK release date: 29 November 2004
Colour Of Fire, creators of the superb album Pearl Necklace, reel another gem in the shape of A Pearl Necklace For Her Majesty. Its angsty vocals and grungey tone make for great listening from an up-and-coming band with barrels of talent. "Waiting for your king to disown you... I'm your fat traitor your majesty," and "Make me a martyr! I'll just die another" are lyrical snippets from an angered voice on its trail for individuality.
Extra tracks The Major Coincedent and Ghost add to the brilliance of the CD. The Major Coincedent's alternative path can be linked to the likes of Placebo and Ghost takes a more Radiohead inspired route, the gravely and loud vocals on Pearl Necklace For Her Majesty are now tender Thom Yorke-like showing the scale of extremes as to which Colour of Fire can reach and reach successfully.
Little doubt, then, that A Pearl Necklace For Her Majesty is a great release from the York quartet that hopefully, in the future, will make Colour Of Fire the household name that they deserve to be.
