The Conway Story are a London based guitar group,
their sound tending towards the raw, unkempt appeal of
early Feeder and refreshingly untampered in
post production.
Ghostwriter follows a familiar pattern of quiet to
loud and back again, the softer passages enhanced by
Nik Owens's stately melody and vocal delivery;
a kind of less fractured version of Thom Yorke.
The band have clearly listened to a few Smashing
Pumpkins tracks along the way, but it's difficult
to know if their diminished level of anguish is
entirely genuine.
Whether it is or not, this is a solid if
unspectacular song, and if you're too late for the
limited edition of nine hundred, the band's well kept
website offers the ubiquitous download material. It
will be interesting to observe their progression from
here.
