Considering what a household name The Coral have become in the indie mainstream, they've never really paid much attention to the scene that envelopes them. Coincidence? Probably not.
Being Somebody Else is another example of this band stoically doing precisely what they want, but this latest offering may well polarise even the most hardcore of Coral fans, it's pop sensibilities far more refined and grown up than the playful, spoon-fed hooks of The Coral of old.
The Coral's latest single is a wistful, gentle, but likeable acoustically driven song, accompanied by heart-melting guitar fills, warm vocal harmonies, and disarming 60s string arrangement. While it may temporarily confuse, Being Somebody Else will win you over in the end and there's nothing you can do to stop it.
