Everything comes in waves: economic trends, fashions, politics, even plagarism. Having been bent over the proverbial barrel and had their pockets rifled for tunes by the likes of Elastica, Wire must now suffer the ignomy of being musically mugged by Glasgow's Correcto, a 'supergroup' of sorts containing bits and bobs of Franz Ferdinand, The Royal We, and sundry other Glaswegian riff-raff.

Then again, there are a number of ways to xerox a band. Correcto summon up memories of Pink Flag- era Wire but manage to avoid outright steals, and Do It Better storms into town on a bristly two-chord riff that brings to mind Stereolab at their most motoric. There's plenty of monotonic barking delivered in vaguely eastern european accents, too, for those of you that find that kind of thing thrillingly daring.

Be thankful for small things, though, and at least there's scant evidence of the twee musical attitude that seems as ubiquitous to people's perception of Scotland as the shortbread, tartan and casual religious violence that we seem to have cornered the export market in. If you like rate your bands by their ability to assault their peers, stick Correcto just behind The Jesus and Mary Chain

but way, way above Belle and Sebastian.
