Counting Crows have always been head and shoulders above their contemporaries, such as the desperately poor Hootie And The Blowfish. Similarly, Vanessa Carlton's Be Not Nobody album signalled her out last year as a major talent to watch.

So a collaboration between the two should have been something really special. However what we have is a spectacularly pointless cover version of the old Joni Mitchell anthem Big Yellow Taxi. It's all played competently enough and Adam Durwitz's voice as beguiling as ever, but it's impossible to get excited at all about it. Poor old Vanessa meanwhile, is reduced to wailing backing vocals and chipping in with the odd "bap bap bap".

A waste of time and talent of all concerned - file under 'missed opportunity'.
