Cracatilla's new single, You've Got It All, starts quite mundane. It's a bit dull, but also pretty, in a meanderingly simple way; straight guitars, 4/4 time, and Eric Clapton-like vocals. It coasts along and indicates nothing more than a pleasant piece of indie pop.
Then, with the start of the chorus, it veers off in another direction completely. It speeds up and goes all chipper in a 10CC kind of a way. This, mixed with the Santana-like shake of the maracas, definitely sparks an interest, maintained by a lovely deep guitar solo mid-way. Certainly, it has an intriguing vibe.
Check out the B-side too. The lyrics might be a bit uninspired, but the tune is lovely, and grabs and holds with its muted beauty. A band to keep an eye on defo.
