Christmas time tends to bring out the worst in music. There are hundreds of dodgy compilation albums all containing the same tracks. There's the dodgy crooner trying to get his career back on track, and then there's the worst of all: the novelty single.
This flippin' frog has been annoying the nation for the best part of the year, and just when you thought his bubble had burst he's back again. At least we only had to suffer Mr. Blobby once. The problem with singles like this is that although you pray to whomever that they won't sell, they always do. For some reason, the more annoying the song, the more everybody's critical faculties go out the window, and when Christmas is added into the equation, you've got no chance of stopping this piece of garbage hitting the charts.
Just to be totally clear, this is a thoroughly uninspired cover of Wham 'sLast Christmas. It's third-rate pop fare and even the frog and his 'ring-ding-ding' lines only crop up a few times. It's almost as if he's embarrassed to turn up on a steaming pile of crap like this.
This is little more than a last ditch effort to prise a few more quid out of your wallet before the frog is consigned to those 'I Remember 2006' style shows. Don't be fooled, just leave it well alone, because after hearing this, you'll be thinking of new places to shove the Christmas tree.
