The Crescent, four early-twentysomethings from Liverpool, have obviously been buying the right records as they've grown up.

Like Oasis, they wear their influences and working-class guitar band pastiche image on their sleeves. Comparisons with The Las aren't too wide of the mark - Lee Mavers was apparently a mentor in all but name.

This may explain why On The Run sounds like The Rolling Stones' Satisfaction merged with a sound that's not a million miles away from Born To Be Wild. It goes, of course - but let's not pretend this is original material. On this evidence, The Crescent are every bit the magpies Oasis are. Didn't do the Gallaghers any harm though, did it?
