This latest release from the Irish troubadour, taken from his critically acclaimed new album 9, is somewhat removed from his usual fare. Preceding his already sold-out UK headline tour in March, this is certainly more suited to the newly announced stadium dates in October.

The track starts off in a perky yet predictable way, with the only major surprise kicking in with the chorus. The contrast between the verses and the chorus is marked, with the first being more coffee house schmaltz and the second being a little more towards the teenage angst end of the spectrum. Generally, if you want to have "f*ck you" shouted at you, this isn't the sort of artist you'd be listening to.

This will certainly bring Rice to the attention of a new audience, but anyone buying the album solely on the back of this is likely to end up disappointed. All in all, whilst this definitely shows he's more versatile than many people credited him with being, if you want to be sworn at you're better off with Lady Sovereign.
