Dan Le Sac and Scroobius Pip have already dazzled us this year with the far-reaching Angles album, and this is one of its gems.
Letter From God To Man is a poignant, modern day psalm that starts off with all manner of complaints going skyward. But as the song progresses a funnier, poignant style of writing emerges, and the conversation becomes like one of those you'll have at the end of a heavy night. Why did God get rid of Mighty White bread, for instance?!
All this takes place over a sample of Radiohead's Planet Telex, or if you try the other mixes, a booming we thee! take, a sparse Nigel Godrich interpretation or a scratched up DJ Sega / Mad Decent opus. All apply polish to a gem from one of the hip hop albums of the year.
