Daniel Wylie's got a spring in his step. The sun beats down, a hot wind blows in the palm trees, and love is in the air. "You stir my emotions, with everything you do" he exalts, before arriving at the potentially hasty conclusion that his lover should move in without delay, so they can experience all seasons together, rather than just summer.
There's something reassuring in the consistency of Wylie's style, which with this single at least remains the same, despite the last album's move towards an alt-country flavour. His songwriting guile is evident once again as the blissful verse moves into a singalong chorus, and he even feels chirpy enough to attempt some falsetto at the end - the sort of confidence that accompanies the cloud nine emotions he depicts in the song.
The forthcoming album The High Cost of Happiness would seem to hint not all is sweetness and light in the life of Wylie, but this song seems to come from beautiful first hand experience, and goes effortlessly with the summer sunshine.
