Being the nation that spawned the likes of Shania Twain and Nickelback, it is fair to say that Canada has been responsible for some heinous musical crimes against humanity and owes the world a very big drink, at the very least.
Enter Danko Jones. Mr Jones and his tribesmen are the musical equivalent of a rollicking night at the bar, at that zenith before another drink starts to take things rapidly downhill. Coming on like The Hives if they loved hard rock and lost some of that fake indie cool, I Want You is a pumped-up, trumps-up winner that boasts a single, dirty great guitar riff and some wonderfully sneering vocals.
The two B-sides last a sum total of 4 minutes, with the delightfully-titled Take Me Out On A Stretcher a close, hard-boozin' cousin to Motorhead's classic Ace Of Spades. A few more bands like this, and we'll forgive the Maple-leafed ones. Well, maybe.
