There's life in the old dogs yet. Just when it
looked as if the Lowestoft lads might be in need of a
lifeboat, they rescue themselves with another
rocktastic single.
Following up the first album was never going to be
straightforward, and with several live attempts the
new material was proving to be easy to like but harder
to love. Yet it seems the catalyst for this new lease
of life, rather than the end of the band, has been
brought on by the departure of bassist Frankie
Poullain. If Justin is to be believed, the group
were beginning to get too serious, in danger of gazing
at their tattooed navels.
One Way Ticket removes all of that at a stroke of
the opening guitar, and Justin gets the opportunity to
indulge himself in more nonsensical lyrics, screeching
parts of the verse and belting out the chorus. As a
bonus the 7" includes the belting Grief Hammer. Catchy
as hell, in fact.
