The Darkness have always been irredeemably shit, and as miraculous as it's been that they got this far, it now seems that the good-ship Darkness has finally been irrecoverably holed by the iceberg of quality.

And haven't the passengers fled quickly? It's almost like they're embarrassed or something. Even that core set of fans, the people who used to tell you; "Ah, it's only a bit of fun," and who presumably also think 'comedy tie' is not an oxymoron, have fled in their droves, leaving an sophomore album, and indeed a band, to sink.

Tracks like Is It Just Me? being the reason why. Less Queen pastiche, and more Status Quo covering T-Rex in a pub toilet covered in sick, it's a song which, in terms of musical evolution, leaps back into the water, swims back up stream and attempts to screw the primordial ooze back to single cell simplicity.
