Every Hollywood blockbuster has to have the obligatory US rock song on the soundtrack. Spider-Man foisted Nickelback upon us again, but the sequel redeems things by employing the "Kings Of Emo", Dashboard Confessional.

Less acoustic based than Chris Carrabba's previous offerings, Vindicated is nevertheless a stirring, uplifting anthem. Carrabba is in fine voice and judging by the poetic lyrics he seems to have cheered up a bit as well: "I am flawed but I am cleaning up so well / I am seeing in me now the things you swore you saw yourself."

One of the many emo bands who are huge in the States yet rather less well-known over in Britain, Vindicated's exposure on the Spider-Man 2 soundtrack should rectify that and bring more success to Carrabba - a great songwriter whose back catalogue is well worth checking out.
