He's been touted as "the David Gray it's okay to like," but David Mead sounds here a little like what you might get if you asked Bono to sing his way through an over-produced but nonetheless lovey-dovey lovesong. A little like One by U2, in fact, if not quite in the same league of songwriting.
Mead's voice is note-perfect and the instrumentation just sounds a little too slick. You get the impression that, live with just a guitar, it might not be so.
There's potential in abundance here, but so far it hasn't quite been realised. Stick with him though - and remember that David Gray wasn't made in a day either.
