The Dead 60s self-titled debut album sported a pleasing preoccupation with the music of The Specials and The Jam, its infectious energy and sparky couplets resulting in an upward looking sound.
Returning single Stand Up is noticeably slower than previous energetic single releases such as Riot Radio but is still something of a call to arms. Though initially its rhythms sound clunky the bass of Charlie Turner soon kicks in and winds up the groove. The jangly guitars may point them a bit more towards The Twang territory, but the sentiment rings through when sung with a bit of grit.
"If everything should break down and fall, stand up" they sing in the rabble rousing chorus. And it works, albeit with a bit more polish than they've used previously. Potentially big.
