There's been a lot of talk about the 80s revival recently, with bands like The Bravery and The Killers taking the early synth-pop sound of the decade and adding their own 21st century gleam onto it.

Well, by the sounds of Bolton boys Decoration, they're keen to take things a few years forward. Jangly, buzzy guitars? Check. Vocals in a Northern accent? Check. Lyrics about some kind of heartache, but a witty pun or two thrown in? But of course. Yes, it's the C86 revival!

They're avowed fans of The Wedding Present and it shows, although they do stamp their own character all over the song. Escape Routine is catchy, passionate and rather good. It may be lacking somewhat in originality, but it includes not only the line "you're endlessly E-baying for blood" but follows it with "I'm only 24 hours from an ulcer". Which you just have to love them for really.
