Think of California. Chances are you'll think of Highway 1, Lake Tahoe, Los Angeles with its Hollywood sign and Beverly Hills, San Fransisco, San Diego. If you're The Thrills then maybe you'll focus on Big Sur or Santa Cruz.
If you're Deep Dish, you'll follow your summertime top 20 success by naming your latest clubs-to-chart crossover smash after the California capital, a place best known these days as Arnie The Terminator's place of work, and hook up with Richard Morel's laid-back, gravelly vocals to produce a piece of music that starts, pootles along and stops.
But get past the so-so radio edit and this EP gives up its value. Of no less than four remixes, the best is Paul Rincon's lively house take, with its mash-up of classic piano riff with bleeps and funky guitar work. These sit alongside extended mixes of the sinister-sounding Bagels and stark Swallow Me. The proof is in the dancing, not the radio edit listening.
