There's so much retro sound around just now it's as if I never grew up. Brothers Greg and Aaron Gilbert, vocalists for the new Southampton four piece Delays, sound strangely like The Hollies with a dash of Tremeloes thrown in - and even a touch of Bee Gees for good measure.
Hey Girl, their second single, is full of twangy guitars and falsetto singing with a horribly catchy melody. It's airy and swirling, about as substantial as thistledown - perfect for summer, in other words.
The B-sides offer added interest though - there's less pop and much more atmosphere on Zero Zero One and Overlover indicates there might be more than just derivative music to come.
