Scotland's best kept secret return with the near title track of last year's wondrous Hate album. Although this is their most commercial release yet, don't expect them to be bothering the stage of Top Of The Pops just yet.
This is a deceptively joyous affair, with a huge swaying chorus that plasters a big silly grin on your face. Until you listen to the lyrics that is, in which Alun Woodward tells the listener that "hate is all around...come on people, feel it like you just don't care".
A marvelously cynical stomp of a song, this is yet another fine example of The Delgados expert grasp of dark pop music. If you've already bought the album, this CD also includes a cover version of ELO's Mr Blue Sky, which is worth the price of admission alone.
