Derrin Neuendorf has some interesting things to say in his lyrics, but in this case they're swamped by some dreary production (or, in the case of the b-side, Dance Steps, completely overwhelmed by a high pitched and nerve-jangling mandolin which completely overwhelms the vocals).
Throughout you get the feeling that the music is incidental, and that while Nauendorf has a confident style of delivery it's more about getting the message across than creating that alchemical blend of form and word and sound.
We're in country blues territory with a bit of British folk thrown in for good measure for Shipwrecked, the first single from his fifth album, That Rattling Wheel. Although delivered with a good deal of force and emotion, something just doesn't click for me, it just doesn't quite convince.
