2007 could well be looked back on as the year that dance music was revitalized. The emergence of Justice and Simian Mobile Disco, those old hands Daft Punk wowing the Wireless and even indie nu-ravers Klaxons winning the Mercury Music Prize. In short, electro has never been so popular.

Digitalism are a German duo who could be said to be influenced by the aforementioned Daft Punk. In fact they probably spent their teenage years wearing robot masks and talking to each other in French accents, so strong is the Gallic influence here. Idealistic is a great big dirty swab of electro, with a huge shuddering bassline and a hypnotic cry of "I had an idea, that you were here".

And it's rather brilliant, even for those of us Luddites who think a song isn't really a song unless it's got some guitar in it. One to turn up loud and annoy the neighbours with...
