Director boast an impressive list of over 2000 Myspace friends, and are already getting airplay on Radio 1 not bad for a four-piece hailing from a small village outside Dublin who have produced their own debut single, will be doing the same for their forthcoming album and even wrote and co-directed the accompanying video.
And they deserve all of it: Reconnect delivers four-and-a-half minutes of perfectly crafted guitar pop in which singer Michael Moloney laments lost love amid catchy hooks and intelligent lyrics. A creeping bassline and poetic turns such as "I'm tired of sitting round the house, I'm tired of doing well without" recall Lloyd Cole, but by adding in some Strokesy guitars and a few extra melodies he's honed his take on rejected romance and regretted conversations so well that it's hard to believe that any sensible girl would really walk out and leave him alone in his bedsit.
If you decide to download, make sure you don't miss out on She's Saying Things, the B-side's poignant and slightly sinister She's Leaving Home for the 21st century, a treat that really shouldn't be missed.
