Dogs Die In Hot Cars - I Love You Cause I Have To (Radiate)
UK release date: 4 August 2003
This up-and-coming indie rock group from Fife nearly met a swift end whe their lead singer Craig Macintosh was electrocuted on stage at the Cotton Club in Dundee last week. Both the venue and the band deny responsibility for the near-fatal technical fault. For a band with such a no-nonsense name, someone should have been more careful.
As for the music, well the boys have turned the clock back to the mid-1980s, when Madness and The Cure ruled the roost. Macintosh's vocal style on I Love You Cause I Have To fits in perfectly with that era, but if you don't like DDIHC's reggae rock style you'll be rolling down the window in the car yourself, just to drown out the radio.
On the flipside, it's a catchy tune, and the B-sides, Celebrity Sanctum and Somewhat Off The Way, show evidence of a indie band with a lot of potential, even if their watches are two decades slow.
