There are records that define a generation. Records that amaze and intrigue with such staggering originality that you're almost overawed by their genius. Records that are not so much songs, more works of art.
And then there's the polar opposite, which is stuff like this. Back in 1989, Technotronic produced the memorable club anthem Pump Up The Jam which reached number one and stayed there for a inordinate amount of time. Now in 2005, the most pointless cover version in the world has been released.
It's basically a carbon copy of the original song, which even features the original's vocal - it's impossible to listen to without thinking "why on earth bother?". Just dig out the original and play that instead if you really must. Mindless music for mindless people, the single features 8 different remixes. And if you're not in the mood to kill the people behind this record by then, you're a better person than I am.
