A record of two parts, this, from Dr Rubberfunk. Step On It is a double-bass driven jazz loop which will tease you into dancing whether you'd like to or not. Trumpet and cymbals wash over the taut rhythm - and it sounds almost like a jazz band.

He gives the game away in Live At The Plaza, though - this sounds like an exploration into the sort of music-by-sampling avenues previously meandered along by The Avalanches.

It's got beat, it's got style, but if you harbour a strange and unreasonable phobia about jazz then you won't like this. The rest of us will be partying in the smoky basement, puffing Gitanes and groovin' to the good doctor.
