Finding themselves somewhere between Iggy Pop and The Jesus And Mary Chain, you just know that The Dude probably wear shades at night, smoke Gauloises and talk about Voltaire a lot. The shared male/female vocal duties strongly suggest that there's probably a bit of a Raveonettes influence here as well. But despite being obviously fairly derivative, The Dude still manage to stamp their authority on their songs.
Introduced with a big and dirty rumbling bass line, I Want You Babe develops into a big, dirty and gloriously dark scuzzy tune. Attitude oozes from the speakers as the song twists itself into a gothic dancefloor stomper replete with handclaps and an Eldrichesque vocal. "I want you baby, I want you so" is less a proclamation of love in The Dude's hands - more a stalker's whispered threat. Chilling stuff indeed.
Second track Margueritte should probably be a grim sounding affair, but The Dude rather confusingly opt for a more full on New Wave approach. Spiky and shouty in all the right measures, Margueritte is a pleasing burst of energy, but one that throws the listener off track a little.
