Animal is an intense, futuristic flight through sparkling skies of Britpop, Glam, and Art-Rock, and bridges the gap between cool and clever. That Duels combine these genres so effortlessly, without sounding cluttered is testament to their creativity and keen musical ear.

Structurally the song is engaging and intelligent, flitting from one place to another with multi-layered instrumentation. Lyrically is where Animal is most disappointing, the chorus simply reciting "Me animal / You animal", which is slightly annoying, and leaves a mark that no amount of stain remover will fix. Don't let that curb your interest though, this is addictive stuff.

With the release of their debut album on the horizon, a soon to commence UK tour with spectacled guitar wielding hero Graham Coxon, and endorsement from fellow Leeds outfit Kaiser Chiefs, Duels are definitely one to watch.
