What's going on Ian? "Can't we be like everyone / pretending that there's nothing wrong?" No we bloody well can't! There IS something wrong. This is wrong. It sounds like someone pretending to be Echo & The Bunnymen . As for you Sergant, explain yourself. *plays chimey sounding guitar*. No! No! That's not you! That's not a somber, swirling riff, it's a bright and jangly riff! Why? Why guys? Where's the misery?

Okay, it's on the B-side (What If We Are?). Phew. See, here we've got a piano that's you've obviously stolen from Let It Be The Streets Of Philadelphia, and a lead singer mopping around wondering: "Maybe I'm not the boy... Maybe you're not the girl", in such a distraught manner you worry he’s going start crying into his Liverpool scarf at any given second. That's what we want. It's great.

You could of dumped most of that denouement, which finds an acapella McCullouch asking "Have I hit rock bottom?", for a good hour and a half, but aside from that, thumbs up. Seriously though, as you get older you're supposed to get more grumpy, not suddenly start singing stuff about "Walking on clouds that never rain"; it's just not what we expect.
