The Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster - Mister Mental (MCA)

UK release date: 12 January 2004

The Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster - Mister Mental
After two years on the road, The Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster return with a new single from their forthcoming second album.

Mister Mental begins with a promise of weird delights akin to the Dead Kennedys, before entering with a psycho-billyed Dave Vanian-esque vocal that rolls along with a demented, speed-fuelled mania, head throbbing with too much, too soon, too late. The chorus hits a lull however, sounding increasingly Spinal Tap - which gives a giggle, but might ruin the mood for some.

This band has an energy, however - a peculiar charm that propels the listener to listen some more. This might not be their finest charmer yet, but it does offer an intriguing Pavlovian taster for the new LP.
