Following internal wranglings and crises that would bury most bands, EMBLD return with a thunderous EP of deathy goth-infused punk.
The title is a complete misnomer as this is not an expedition into all things horticultural, but is instead another reworking of the Garden of Eden story - something that still holds a seductive power amongst many a dark songwriter. In this version the snake appears to have run amok and set its own agenda with a nightmarish vision that carries on throughout this EP's 4 tracks.
This is not an easy ride. From the relative security of the garden we move to even darker soundscapes, from the bizarrely titled You Say You're a Doctor, But You're Really a Mister to the gloomy finale of Terrible Night.
Obviously this is not going to be to all tastes. It's all quite shouty and arguably doesn't hold up to a great deal of analysis, but this will please fans of the genre as there's plenty of frenetic energy and crowd pleasing moments to get you pogoing and to set the Dimmocks and the Titmarshes of this world running for cover in their potting sheds. The English country garden on display here is full of deadly nightshade, triffids and cacti, so don't even think of trying the apples!
