Embrace - Ashes (Independiente)
UK release date: 15 November 2004
Embrace - Ashes
After rising phoenix-like a few months ago with the Chris Martin penned Gravity, Embrace release another single from their excellent Out Of Nothing album, and this time it's all their own work.

Ashes is a bit more pacey than its predecessor, with a driving guitar sound and a mighty, absolutely huge chorus. The lyrics are suitably optimistic and uplifting ("watch me rise up and leave from the ashes you made for me") and the whole thing ends up as sounding rather life-affirming.

After a career of ups and downs, it's good to see Embrace back on track - one of the country's most promising bands have finally started to fulfill their potential and Ashes is a quite wonderful example of how good they can be.
