Embrace - Gravity (Independiente)
UK release date: 30 August 2004
Embrace - Gravity
After seemingly disappearing for a few years, Embrace return with the first fruits of their new deal with Independiente. Gravity was written by an old friend of the band who just happens to have a pretty successful group of his own - Coldplay's Chris Martin.

The end result is, well, like a cross between Embrace and Coldplay to be honest. Martin's signature piano features heavily before exploding into a big, epic, swaying chorus of the sort that Danny McNamara handles so well. His vocals will produce the usual love/hate reaction, and he does drop out of tune occasionally here, but generally this is a huge return to form for the band.

It all bodes well for the forthcoming Embrace album Out Of Nothing, and also for Coldplay's future direction - if Martin can afford to give away songs like this and Jamelia's See It In A Boy's Eyes, heaven only knows what Mr Paltrow has in store for us when his band return.
