The problem with The Enemy is they don't really sound like they mean it. In a market already crowded with slightly angry young men, the Coventry trio's sound on their first single for Stiff Records is mildly abrasive, with driving base and rhythms touched by the ska revival.

But the vocals aren't very winning - an indeterminate accent, mostly in tune, lacking warmth or quirkiness, delivering a lot of verses about sleeping around with no more than the most casual lip service to melody.A hungry but rather too loose pub band still to find their own distinct sound - but they are only 18 so they've got the time to develop, bless.
