For a moment there, Fall Out Boy were in danger of becoming one of life's guilty pleasures, such was the insanely catchy nature of hit single Sugar, We're Goin' Down. However, as any good parent will have drummed into their kids, too much sugar comes straight back up again...
And so it is with Dance, Dance. It's fast, frenetic, has a big MTV-friendly chorus and features another strong vocal performance from Patrick Stump, who does particularly well enunciating Pete Wentz's unwieldly and not-half-as-clever-as-they-think-they-are lyrics ("Why don't you show me the little bit of spine you've been saving for his mattress / I only want sympathy in the form of you crawling into bed with me").
However, at the end of the day this is middling to average pop with a few guitars thrown in to make it feel like "rock". It's like Good Charlotte never happened. We can but dream.
