There's a sharp edge to Fan Death's disco, one that can be gleaned from the striking picture of the owl chosen to front their new single. It's so sharp Erol Alkan has taken time out to provide a remix.

Veronica's Veil kicks off with the sort of riff that sends you running to the dance floor. Strident violins confidently strut their stuff over a perky electro disco beat, while in Alkan's version a lean grand piano adds some bite to the lower end.

Affirmative vocals are also there, the "I think I can believe now, in you" providing the upward message of the chorus. It gets more uplifting as it proceeds - though is just a touch too long. Nonetheless, a fine piece of disco with attitude.
