Hmmm, no, Fear Of Music aren't the enemy, but they're not really your friends, either. For all that they're hiding behind a sleeve just a little bit influenced by Joy Division's classic Unknown Pleasures (but designed by someone with a ruler) and have a guitar style not a million miles away from that band either, this is fairly run of the mill indie guitar music.
Certainly that's true of the opening eponymous track and while things do improve with the second song, A Blueprint, it's only because they've been listening to Editors a bit too much.
It may seem like an odd criticism, but what's wrong with this is that it sounds too accomplished, too much like a track from the sixth or seventh album of a band that's resting on its laurels rather than one that's barely out of school. Where's their energy? Where's their fire and their passion? It's all a little bit smoothed out in a major label smothering kind of way. Shame really, as there are some interesting moments but not enough and not delivered with enough kick.
