Another day, another band with a definite article
prefixed name. Why the obsession with 'the'? Why not
the indefinite article? Why not the first person
singular past indicative? Or the third person present
indicative? All these possibilities that could be used
before the adjective and everybody goes with 'the'.
Still I'm sure The Features couldn't care less about
semantic debates regarding their name. And despite
hailing from Tennessee they probably couldn't care
less about Creedence Clearwater Revival either,
rather excitingly shunning the Southern-fried hickory
flavoured pot of influences that the King Of Leon having been eating from, and instead dining
heartily at the table of new-wave, with a couple of
slices of Byrdsian psychedelic folksy-pop for
dessert.
At just over two minutes of spiraling organs,
deceptively hard-edged riffs and good ol' boy vocals
from lead singer Matt Pelham, Leave It All Behind is
short, sharp, rather catchy and possessing a chorus
resplendent with the best "Woo-ooh-ooo's" this side of
Motown. Add this to the rapidly developing live
reputation and you have wonder whether these
Features might soon be becoming more
prominent. Oh, that was terrible. I'll get my
coat...
