A tragic but defiant air hangs heavy over this record, the clear product of the terrible events of January when Feeder's drummer Jon Lee took his own life. Some might have wondered whether Feeder could have maintained their momentum after this bombshell, but this is an impressive return that bodes well for their forthcoming album.

Come Back Around manages to be both deeply melancholy and strangely uplifting. Imposing guitar squalls cut in and out of Grant Nicholas' impassioned vocals, his stark lyrics given added pathos by the trauma that has hit the band.

A call to arms if you like, from a band still with much to offer.
