The Feeling are self confessed soft rock archaeologists. What they mean
by this I am unsure of. Are they excavating the roots of soft rock? Are they
pioneering the new sound of their genre? Well, turns out that it's neither, because The Feeling sound
more like an early seventies version of McFly, and the only thing those
jokers unearth is a tame but persistent loathing.
Fill My Little World is The Feeling's debut single and it reeks of
pop-done-by-the-book. It's cheap and cheerful, happy go lucky premise is
little short of annoying, and the ugly head of the cheesy pop monster rears
its unwelcome head from every beat, bar and brazen chorus.
There's just something very annoying about this song. It's like someone
you've just met acting like he's your new best friend. The lyrics of Dan
Gillespie do little to steer the songs path from the rocks with clichéd
rhymes and cringe worthy lines such as; "All I wanted was some evidence you
really liked me". On their website The Feeling state that with pop music,
you can get away with murder. They're clearly mistaken, and if justice be
done, they will be convicted and sentenced accordingly. Who's for some
McFly, then?
