To be honest with you, I really couldn't tell the difference between Fergie and the reborn Nelly Furtado. Thankfully, Fergalicious clears that one up for us. Fergie tells us she ain't easy, sleazy or promiscuous - I'll let you colour in between the lines.
We are literally told this, as there is little by way of singing until the track's midpoint. By which time Will.I.Am's rapping simply reminds us he is no Timbaland. Luckily this offering is a double-A side with Clumsy so all is not lost.
Interestingly, it took nine people to write Fergalicious but just three to create Clumsy, completing this double A-side. Clumsy indicates Fergalicious is a definite case of too many cooks spoiling the broth as the tracks charm lies in its simplicity. Sampling Little Richard's The Girl Can't Help It, it is the antidote to the haphazard Fergalicious.
Clumsy validates Fergie's success at the MTV VMAs where in September where she was crowned Female Artist of the Year. Fergalicious, while being perfect commercial radio fodder just doesn't do anything for me, as there's nothing tasty or delicious about it.
