Fifth Avenue - Spanish Eyes (Religion Music)
UK release date: 6 September 2004
Fifth Avenue - Spanish Eyes
I pressed play. I listened for a minute. I pressed eject. I double checked that I had put the correct CD in. Unfortunately, I had.

Spanish Eyes, the first UK release of five-piece popsters Fifth Avenue ("Already with five Top 10 hits to their names and platinum in Sweden!"), sounds so much like J-Lo's Ain't It Funny that it ain't funny at all. Enrique "Mole? What Mole?" Iglesias and Ricky "TV Movie" Martin apparently wanted this song for themselves, and a Spanish-language version has been set aside for the winner of Spanish Pop Idol. I have only one question - why?!

They've supported Busted and Westlife, and the label spiel promises UK chart success in the near future. I have absolutely no doubt that their prediction is correct. This does mean, however, that we're going to have to endure knock-off, pseudo-Latino pop bo**ocks for a good few months yet.
