With a name like this you would expect something pumped up, nasty and sonically brutal. Fighting With Wire are a band that live up to their name, and on this evidence they're more than capable of causing a stir. With the wonderful Jetplane Landing's Cahir O'Doherty among their ranks, you should have a pretty good idea about what they're all about.
Machine Parts is an unashamed rock song. It burns with the tense ferocity of the DC hardcore bands like Minor Threat and Bad Brains while not forgetting the importance of melody. Vocally, it's the kind of thing that Foo Fighters or Rocket From The Crypt might well come up with. Indeed, opening line "This is a call to action" recalls the introduction of the Foos into the fray with their debut offering This Is A Call.
This is tight angry and thoroughly focused, and, what's more, it's an entirely accessible song. If Weezer can make it on to Now That's What I Call albums, then it's not such a great leap of faith to imagine that a band capable of such aggression and melody will be making their mark very soon. Whether they'd want to be on a Now album is another matter altogether.
