What I knew (that was accurate) about Fischerspooner would once have fitted on the head of a pin, and left room to spare for an essay on how much I cared. Indeed, I even thought they were called "Fischerspoon" - and wasn't embarrassed about being corrected by a more knowledgeable mate.

So Never Win (such an optimistic sentiment) is my first introduction into the world of "classically trained musician" Warren Fischer and "experimental theatre performer" Casey Spooner (© Google and VH1). So far, so Legz Akimbo. Just a shame that they didn't recruit a "Harvard English student" to write the lyrics; "you make no mistake, if you learn from what you've got to take", indeed.

But then who said pop had to be poetic? It only has to be original. Except... haven't we been here before? It's the Human League doing Pink Floyd's The Wall! No, it's New Order doing, er, New Order! No, it's Kraftwerk doing Iron Butterfly! The only difference is that it's the drums, not the hairdos, that are big now. Yet, by the end, I'm convinced these guys are onto something. It's big, it's reasonably clever and it's also a bit crap - I smell success!
