White Girls is the fourth single from Anglo-American, NYC based new wavers Five O'Clock Heroes, and arrives on the back of an extensive tour of the UK. It also maintains their 100% record for good releases, for this is yet another three-minute slice of irresistible pop-rock that will have you moving your hips and tapping your feet in no time at all.
It's their most dance friendly song to date, and certainly the most immediate of their short career. Their trademark choppy guitars, elastic bass lines, crisp drumming and reggae tinged vocals remain present and correct, and are all built around what is quite possibly the catchiest hook of the year, one that makes Kaiser Chiefs sound like Slipknot on some very bad drugs.
"White girls! Don't bother me," cries vocalist Antony Ellis throughout the track - why exactly he feels this way about such a large section of the world population will probably always remain a mystery, but one thing's for sure - if this band keep producing such fantastic pop songs, their debut album Bend To The Breaks is set to be one of the highlights of 2006.
