The latest offering from former Spiritualized bassist and Lupine Howl frontman Sean Cook is a blissed out, jazz-funk influenced gem of a song that probably won't be anywhere near as big a hit as it deserves to be.
High's late night blues influences and smooth vocals swim along the radio waves like a welcome friend, too mainstream for a man with such a heritage behind him, too clever for their own good. Hypnotic and magical, a voodoo beat for a midnight jam session.
If there's any criticism that can be had of it, it's that it's one of the least memorable tracks from the forthcoming album All Too Human, less smooth than the sultry Temptress, and without the deep blues seduction of some of the other tracks you'll find there.
Fighting its corner is a video directed by cult movie director Julian Temple, of Glastonbury and The Great Rock'n'Roll Swindle fame. Let's hope it makes the difference.
